Take a Picture at the Waterfalls

Daggett Memorial Park. located on Hwy. 23 in downtown Montello offers a great backdrop for photos! This historic granite quarry has the hardest granite in the world!

Treat The Family

Kids and treats just go together in summertime! At It’s Poppin’ , located at 223 N. Pioneer Park Road in Westfield, you can find several flavors of popcorn, ice cream, and fine chocolate. There is also a large selection of gifts in the store.

As a downtown destination for decades, The Montello Candy Store has an amazing selection of candy, fine chocolates, and gifts.  It is also a favorite stop for ice cream!

Parks

Hike

Whether you are looking for a short walk or a long saunter, there are several places in the county to get exercise and enjoy nature.

Check out the community trails at Pioneer Park in Westfield or Stan-O-Gene Park in Neshkoro. Strolling along the shoreline of Buffalo Lake on Sunset Drive in Montello is a favorite activity of both locals and visitors. Storybook trails can also be found at Pioneer Park and on Sunset Drive. Read the book as you walk along the path!

If you would like a longer, more adventurous hike, take a short drive to John Muir County Park, where you can hike the loop around Ennis Lake. Just down the road from John Muir County Park is Observatory Hill, where great views can be seen for miles when you reach the top!

Water Fun

Looking for a place to cool down on a warm day? There are two public beaches in Marquette County, which can be found at the Montello City Park and Tuttle Lake County Park. Wilderness Campground, south of Montello, also allows swimming for the general public on select days during the week for a fee. Pioneer Park in Westfield has a splashpad next to the playground for a full day of summer fun!

Feed the Animals

Feeling adventurous? Make the trip to Shamba Safari, a drive-through animal park near Neshkoro. Here you can feed exotic animals from your vehicle. Be ready to capture lots of great pictures and videos!

Museums

Learn about local history at the Marquette County Historical Society in Westfield, open on Wednesdays from noon-4pm, and the Montello Historic Preservation Society in Montello, which is open from noon-3pm on Saturdays through Labor Day. Both places are also open by appointment.

Shore fishing

Known as the “Shore Fishing Capital of Wisconsin”, Marquette County has numerous places to fish from shore! Catfish, panfish, walleye, bass and pike can be caught throughout the year.

Float on the water

The Fox and Mecan rivers are popular for kayaking and canoeing, along with Kilby and Ennis lakes, which are both no-motor lakes. Tubing trips are also popular in the Montello area.
